How to Migrate Gravity Forms From One Site to Another

Three ways to move your forms, entries and settings to a new WordPress site, and what each one carries over.

Whether you’re launching a redesign, moving to a new host or copying a form to a client site, you’ll eventually need to move Gravity Forms from one site to another. There are three ways to do it, and the right one depends on what you need to bring along.

Option 1: The Built-In Export and Import

Best for copying one or a few forms to another site.

  1. On the old site, go to Forms → Import/Export → Export Forms, select your forms and download the JSON file.
  2. On the new site, go to Forms → Import/Export → Import Forms and upload that file.

The export includes each form’s fields, settings, notifications and confirmations. Keep in mind:

  • Add-on feeds aren’t included for most add-ons, like Stripe, Mailchimp or User Registration. Recreate those on the new site. (Some add-ons, like Gravity Flow, add their own steps to the export.)
  • Entries can’t be imported. You can export entries to CSV under Forms → Import/Export → Export Entries, but Gravity Forms has no entry importer. For that you’ll need GravityImport or GravityMigrate from GravityKit.
  • Form IDs change on the new site. Update shortcodes, blocks and any code snippets that reference a form ID.

Option 2: GravityMigrate

Best when you need forms and their entries, feeds and settings. GravityMigrate from GravityKit exports everything into one ZIP file:

  • Forms, entries and entry file uploads
  • Add-on feeds and Gravity Forms settings
  • GravityView Views, if you use them

Install it on both sites, export from the old site under GravityKit → GravityMigrate (you can limit entries by date and protect the file with a password), then upload the ZIP on the new site and import. It’s available with a GravityKit All Access license.

Option 3: Migrate the Whole Site

If you’re moving the entire website to a new host or domain, a full-site migration tool moves Gravity Forms along with everything else: forms, entries, feeds, settings and uploads all live in the database and uploads folder. Tools like WP Migrate, All-in-One WP Migration or your host’s migration service work well.

After a full migration:

  • Check that your Gravity Forms license is active on the new domain.
  • Reconnect payment add-ons like Stripe if the domain changed, and update the webhook URL in your payment account.
  • Send a test submission and confirm notifications arrive.

Which Should You Use?

  • Copying a form or two: Export/Import.
  • Moving forms with their entries and feeds to a different site: GravityMigrate.
  • Moving the whole site: a full-site migration.
