Failed Submissions

Track and log every failed Gravity Forms submission, get notified when failures spike, and block repeat offenders automatically.

by Spark Web Solutions Paid Updated Aug 6, 2026

What it does

When someone fills out your form and hits submit but gets a validation error, that attempt is usually lost forever. This add-on captures those failed submissions so you can see exactly where and how often your forms are breaking down.

Once installed, it logs each failed attempt with details like the error message and the submitter's IP address. You can view a list of failures per form, filter by ID, error message, or IP, and delete individual or bulk records. You can also set up email notifications so you hear about problems right away instead of waiting for a customer to complain.

It also lets you block users who fail too many times within a set timeframe. This is useful for stopping bots or repeated bad-faith submissions. Settings can be configured globally and then overridden on a per-form basis.

What counts as a failed submission?

Any form submission that results in a validation error is recorded as a failed submission.

Can the plugin block users who keep failing?

Yes. In each form's settings you can set a limit on failed attempts from the same user within a timeframe. Once that limit is hit, further submissions are blocked even if the data would otherwise be valid.

Can I delete old failed submission records?

Yes. You can delete individual records from the list or detail view, or use bulk delete to remove multiple records at once.

Can I configure notifications differently for each form?

Yes. You set global notification defaults under Forms → Settings → Failed Submissions, then override those settings on a per-form basis as needed.
