Popups

Display any Gravity Form in a popup, slide-in, banner, or fullscreen overlay with flexible triggers and targeting rules.

by Gravity Forms Paid Official Updated Aug 11, 2026

What it does

Getting a form in front of visitors at the right moment usually means editing page templates or wrestling with third-party popup plugins that don't play well with Gravity Forms. This official add-on handles everything from inside your Gravity Forms admin, so you don't need to touch page layouts or use separate tools.

You create a popup feed, pick which form to show, then choose how and when it appears. Triggers include a button click, a time delay, scroll depth, exit intent, a URL hash, or a direct JavaScript call. Targeting rules let you limit where each popup is eligible to appear, so the right form shows on the right pages.

It's a good fit for site owners who want to collect leads, run surveys, or show sign-up forms without embedding them inline on every page.

Key features

  • Six trigger types: button click (CSS selector), timeout, scroll depth, exit intent, URL hash, and JavaScript API
  • Four display modes: popup, slide-in, banner, and fullscreen overlay with size, position, animation, and backdrop options
  • Targeting rules to control which pages or visitor contexts can show a popup
  • Cookie-based dismissal controls with configurable cookie name and duration
  • Auto-close after form submission and configurable close behaviors (ESC key, backdrop click, close button)
  • JavaScript API (window.GFPopups.show(feedId)) for triggering popups from custom code
  • Theme template overrides and merge tag support inside the popup iframe

Do I need to edit page templates to place the popup?

No. You configure everything in Forms → Popups. For button-click triggers you just add the matching CSS class or ID to any existing element on the page.

Can I stop the popup from showing again after someone dismisses it?

Yes. Enable 'Respect Dismissal' in the feed and the add-on sets a cookie so the popup won't reappear until that cookie expires. You can set the cookie name and duration.

What are the minimum requirements?

You need WordPress 6.0 or later, PHP 8.0 or later, and Gravity Forms 2.8 or later.

Can I trigger a popup from my own JavaScript?

Yes. Call window.GFPopups.show(feedId) from your own code to open any configured popup on demand.
