If your form collects a lot of information, especially across several pages, it helps to show people a summary before they submit. They can catch mistakes and go back to fix them, instead of emailing you later.
It’s also great for order forms. Most people like to review their order before paying, and a clear summary can reduce abandoned checkouts.
What You’ll Build
A final “Review your answers” page at the end of your form. It shows everything the person entered, with the Previous button to go back and edit, and the Submit button to finish.
Requirements
- Gravity Forms (any license)
- A multi-page form (add a Page field if your form is a single page)
- One of these: the free Gravity Wiz Better Pre-submission Confirmation snippet, or the GP Preview Submission perk
Why You Need a Snippet or Perk
Gravity Forms can show merge tags like {all_fields} in notifications and confirmations, after the form is submitted. But it doesn’t fill them in inside an HTML field while the person is still filling out the form. The snippet or perk adds that ability.
| Option | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Better Pre-submission Confirmation | Free snippet | The original version. It’s no longer being updated for new Gravity Forms features. |
| GP Preview Submission | Part of Gravity Perks | The maintained version. Adds support for file uploads and other newer field types. |
For a production site, I recommend the perk. Use the free snippet if you want to try the idea first.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Add a Review Page
Open your form in the editor and drag a Page field to the very end of the form. Everything after it becomes the last page, which is your review page.
Step 2: Add an HTML Field
Drag an HTML field onto the new last page. In its Content setting, add a short heading and the merge tag for all fields:
<h3>Review your answers</h3>
<p>Check everything below. Use Previous to go back and make changes.</p>
{all_fields}
You can also show individual fields, like {Name (First):1.3}, if you want a custom layout instead of the full list. Use {all_fields:nohidden} to leave Hidden fields out.
Step 3: Install the Snippet or Perk
Install GP Preview Submission from Forms → Perks, or add the free snippet with a code snippet plugin like WPCodeBox. No other settings are needed. The merge tags in your HTML field now fill in when someone reaches the last page.
Step 4: Test It
Preview the form, fill in the earlier pages and click Next to reach the review page. Check that every answer shows up, then click Previous, change something, and come back to make sure the summary updates.
Tips
- Put the review page right before payment fields, so people confirm their details first.
- Keep the submit button label clear, like “Looks good, submit”.
- Use conditional logic to hide sections of the summary that don’t apply.
